Design for Manufacturing

Week 6 was very heavy on finalizing our lamp and pushing out our design of manufacturing. As we worked on the design manufacturing, we realized the lamp stem was too large for the printer. We decided to puzzle piece our front and back panel to the stem to make the pieces fit the printer. Luke also ordered the wireless charging coil to his place and stripped it of its casing so it can inserted into the stem perfectly. This was much more affordable and convenient than wiring and creating our own coil. Along with these minor modifications and additions, we wrapped up our design manufacturing. We spent hours over the week on call making sure each piece had an STL file, a sliced image and a drawing. Overall, the DFM helped us as a team organize our thoughts and get everything together in one big presentation.
